Hi! I’m Jacob Martin from Kenya , but I prefer using my Brand name akolades printers. I’m a Graphic Designer with one year design experience. On a daily basis I run a Design, Printing & Branding agency called akolades printers & also I learn Web development part time for fun. I can do a thing or two with html and CSS. I believe that the best way to learn is by engaging with people better than me as so to learn from them. That is why as a Graphic Designer I want to be a part of a community, where I can horn and grow my skill set. I’m excited to be here for a better part because coming across a community of Graphic Designer is a challenge unlike web development
Hi there and welcome! if you want to make a forum thread about your work please go ahead I can also add you to a Kenya OSD team on our github if you have a github profile you would like to share?
Hi Eriol, It feels nice getting to connect with people here. Yes I would really love to belong to a team specifically one based in Kenya. I have a printing shop that I run on a daily basis. I offer large format printing services to top it up with Corporate Business Branding. I have a github repo but more of web based. Looking forward to what this journey brings me.
Hey all,
I like to remain silent mostly in communities, but, since i’m pushing myself beyond boundaries i’ve stayed in, i have decided to introduce myself.
I am Elijah Oloninla, a brand and product designer. I have about 4 years experience creating brand designs. I decided to join this community in order to contribute to projects, grow my skillsets as well as networks. Hoping that one day everything would pay off.
To mention, i am currently considering switching more into UX design. I’d appreciate recommendations, or invitations to work on projects.
Hi everyone! My name is Miebaka Joshua.
I am a generalist designer based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria with 4 years of professional experience spanning across branding, packaging design, publication design and UI design as well as a stint in the IT industry as a systems administrator. I am interested in learning about user experience (especially for physical products and brand image promotion) and no-code tools like Webflow, both of which I have started learning personally.
My design portfolio can be found here: Behance. I’m looking forward to meeting and working with amazing people on here.
Hey folks! Nice to meet a few of you in the recent monthly open source design call.
I’m a product designer from Canada that has been working in enterprise-sponsored open source projects for a few years now, with a lot of attention devoted toward users and teams that are deploying and maintaining platforms for software development, or automating parts of their supply chain and developer experience. Some of these projects include Concourse CI, Cartographer, and Buildpacks.
I’m currently working on Auth0’s design team, and I’m putting together a new open source initiative that should be ready for announcement late this June of 2022.
I’m interested in open source community building and management, curating feedback loops in open source projects, and governance and contribution best practices.
@akoladesPr can you tell me your user name for github please?
Welcome to @elijaholoninla @miebaka and @matthewp so happy you have joined our community there are plenty of projects to work on in the Jobs - Jobs page but also feel free to start forum topics about any topic that you want to discuss related to open source + design.
@matthewp Excited to hear more about your announcement in June

We have a community call you might want to join too: Open Source Design monthly call - Open Source Design
Hi Open Source Design people!
I’m Daniel, a product designer and university teacher from Weimar/Germany, seeking for digital freedom with GNU/Linux and Open Source programs for several years now. The toolbox I’m using for my digital designs includes Darktable, Gimp, Krita, Inkscape, Scribus, Blender, FreeCAD and many more. I’m fascinated and deeply grateful, that these powerful floss-programs are provided to the world by its amazing communities. My own contributions so far mostly limits on introducing and educating others, as well as giving hints about bugs.
I wrote my Master thesis “Sources of Freedom” in the program of Sustainable Product Cultures at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, about the potential of floss for product design. It’s written in German, but if you would like to have a look, you can download it here: M18 Cloud
The thesis was convincing to several people at the university, and the perspective of growing digital sovereignty and making our students less dependent from the big software companies, lead to an assignment to teach floss to art and design students. The course is called “own.your.tools” and aims on empowering. So what I’m teaching is rather how to acquire floss-programs in general, than teaching individual programs. A description of the course you can find here: Bauhaus-Universitaet Weimar
Further I’m a member of Maschinenraum, a small classical, sometimes sleepy, sometimes bustling, students driven hackspace at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, with quite a tradition of 20plussomething years.
I’m very Interested in discussions about open source programs in art and design, in connecting to people using floss for product and graphic design on a professional level, in discussions about using floss in education, and topics like decentralization, privacy and data protection, as well as sustainability and repairing things.
My special interest at the moment is FreeCAD: For a couple of weeks now I’m focusing on creating mechanical assemblies with it. And I want to get into using it to create freeform shapes for casings. Still there is quite a gap between my usage skills and what I’ve seen FreeCAD is capable of – so I’m working on closing this gap…
This is my introduction. I’m looking forward to come in touch with you! =)
Hello everyone!! I hope you all are doing great.
I am Sajid, a junior product designer from India.
Passionate about sustainable and ethical design and a huge fan of open source products.
Would love to contribute in any way possible.
Hey fellow Open source design enthusiasts!
Rushil this side and I’ll make it short and quick.
2-3 Months before, I started using Linux. My windows was getting laggish and I thought to give Linux a try and I totally got blown away with the amount of customization I could do with it. I made it look like MacOS and went on customizing it in a lot of different ways. Along this experience, I also used a lot of open source design projects and some other projects.
And that’s how, I learnt about open source and thought to contribute to it on my own way. End of the story.
Btw I’m an undergrad, who loves to do Product design and I looking forward to meet you folks on the next monthly call!
