I’m Violette Naa Adoley Allotey, joining you all from Accra, Ghana . I’m a children’s product designer, edtech founder, and a storyteller at heart.
On a daily basis, I split my time between designing STEM toys (like Awo the Little Engineer), creating educational stories and games for kids, and learning Python to bring these tools to life through interactive apps. I’m also a mom, so I often find myself blending real-life play and tech with my little one
I got into open-source design through my curiosity about how inclusive, culturally rooted learning tools could be shared and improved collaboratively. I love the idea of a global community shaping tools for equity in education.
I’m most excited about learning from others here, sharing ideas, and hopefully contributing some Afrocentric kid-friendly design vibes to the mix. Looking forward to collaborating!
Hi all! I recently found out about the Open Source Design group after hearing a bit about it from Eriol while I was at Penpot Fest in Madrid. I’m Carlos, originally from Seattle, but currently based in Margate, England.
I’ve been a designer for about 20 years now, working in tech, startup, agency and freelance. Currently I’m working at Cancer Research UK and for the last 6 years have been leading the build of our design system there. It’s a big effort and it’s just 3 of us on the team, so exciting stuff.
Over the last 6-8 months I’ve had a growing passion for open source… well everything really. Tech, software and more. I’ve been working for some time to de-Google my life and am working to find a way to get a solid footing in my anti-FAANG stance. It’s not easy as most of us know.
Outside of design and tech, I’m a music lover and have been DJing for almost 30 years. I’m a lover of many different kinds of music but lately 60s-90s era film soundtracks and piano composers have my attention. Though if I’m DJing you’ll find me playing more House, Disco and various other danceable 80s music.
I am a software developer based in Bengaluru, India with an avid interest in designing. At my day job, I am responsible for designing and then implementing those designs on the web.
I love open source, since my college days I have contributed to many open source projects such as AppFlowy, Felangel BLoC, React JS documentation.
I believe open source apps are as good as their counterparts but sometimes lack in design and marketing, if I can improve some open source apps by improving their designs, then that would make me very happy.
I’m a UX/UI designer based in Seattle, Washington. After leaving the aviation industry, I completed a software engineering bootcamp, but quickly realized I was most passionate about user experience and visual design. I’ve been self-learning through online courses and building my design portfolio for the past 1.5 years and am now ready to continue my learning through hands-on experience and collaboration. I’m especially interested in promoting mental well-being through ethical UX design practices, and I feel like open source is a great avenue for this.
Outside of design, I love to play video games solo or with friends, go hiking with my partner and our dog, Zuko, and play piano. I’m also learning Swedish for fun! Jag älskar att lära mig svenska
I’m happy to be here and looking forward to collaborating with you all
Hi everyone! I’m Dana and I’m currently in NYC. I have designing for 8 years and I am currently a Senior Product Designer focused on data. I’m working on a new data analysis tool so UX researchers, PMs, and designers can look at their data and conduct experiments, inform their decisions, etc.
I got into open source through installing Linux on my PC (with the help of my partner and EndeavourOS is my current distro) and reading The Cathedral and the Bazaar. After that, my love for open source snowballed (: I’ve been trying to contribute UI/UX to open source projects I’m passionate about as a hobby.
Some of my writing, my Github, and my portfolio (ask for password if you’d like to see!).
Outside of design, I have 2 cats: Buba and Meekz. I love drawing, creating pixel art, playing indie games, and reading.
Wanted to join and be active in this community to get to know others and make some friends!
My name is Veena and my background is in community development and engagement, particularly in science and tech. I’ve worked at various museums and nonprofits in the US and am currently at an open-source quantum computing nonprofit called Unitary Foundation. Glad to be here and around other passionate people!
I’ve been interested in Open Source and Libre software for a while, and would like to help improve it. I’m currently working as a freelance, and am doing some work with the Software Heritage foundation (not the archive, a new project). I also write a little code, mostly with Kirby CMS, and I am a little familiar with Git.
Someone directed me here as I was wondering about ways to contribute to Libre software as a designer on Mastodon.
Hi! I’m Justine (but I usually go as Nina, but that’s a story for another day) and I’m a french front-end developer who is currently trying to change her career path to become a UI designer. I was fairly disappointed and burnt-out with my career but the world of FOSS made me remember what I loved about this career path in the first place
I aspire to contribute to open source software either as a dev or as an UI designer in the future. I have lots of experience in front-end dev, and lots of enthusiasm about design!
I also enjoy exercising, music and drawing (I am also starting a side hustle as an illustrator), and I am also excellent at making horrible puns (mostly in french but I’m leveling-up with english puns)
