Did you have a look at the Job Board? It often focuses more on icons and graphics, but occasionally we also have research and product design.

The “Get in contact” section in the link I gave is a good start. A ton of work is going into analysing user reports.
During each weekly meeting (Jitsi audio call), a handful of reports are tackled. Commenting goes on in the reports continuously.
Reading the design blog also gives an idea of what is happening.
