I’m here to open up a conversation i’m curious about. ‘What do you think affects the ‘sustainability’ of OSS from a design perspective in 2024?’
Feel free to define Sustainability for yourself - it’s a word that has plenty of meanings depending on perspectives. 
One important aspect that design can bring in is a concern for the perspective of newcomers. These are very important to sustain a community (since some experienced people will leave at some point) but they are very often not well cared for since the core concerns ofte lie on other experienced developers (Related: Legitimate Peripheral Participation and becoming a Wikipedia editor)
