My name is Aslan. I’m a design technologist with a focus in civic tech and an interest in Open Source. Hi good folks!
I’m Agrata Patel, a digital product designer and senior at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, where I study a mix of Human Computer Interaction, User Research, Business Management and Visual Communication. Previously I have been at Samsung working in Augmented and Virtual Reality.
I contributed in Open source for a month in Fedora about 3 years back but then stopped because I couldn’t understand how to communicate in IRC and attend remote meetings. Seems silly, I know. But now that I have grown more understanding, I believe I can be of great help in open source community, one commit at a time.

Well, IRC has not the best usability. It is a tool where you type your password in the same place where the rest of the communication goes 😬

I’ve been in open source since 2013, when I started working for Wikimedia (the social movement behind Wikipedia). I now work for Google in their open source strategy team.
Working as a communication strategist, I often found myself looking for open source resources to complete design requirements, like creating infographics, or other visual support materials. I’m really excited that this network exists! I’d love to contribute all I have learned about designing in the open source world, and also learn from you all.

Hi,
I’m Pauline Léon, a member of a french informal collective, [Tricoteuses](https://tricoteuses.fr/a_propos) (see also the [introduction in the forum](https://forum.en-root.org/t/petite-presentation-den-root/)) working on free software and open data related to digital democracy. It started about a year ago but only recently created a [UX team](https://forum.en-root.org/c/ux).
Our first task is to create a sensible user experience for the developers using the [data sets published by tricoteuses](https://data.tricoteuses.fr/). Although the web site already exists, it has no users. We started with [intercept interviews](https://git.en-root.org/tricoteuses/data-site/blob/master/ux/intercept-interview.md) (which is largely copy/pasted from @ei8fdb work on SecureDrop) with developers working with data sets to better understand them. The transcript of first [interview was published](https://forum.en-root.org/t/intercept-interview-01-developpeur-utilisant-un-jeu-de-donnees/) and another should be published today.
As you will see if you visit the web site, most of the work and dialogue are in French, which is the primary reason why I did not post a message on this forum sooner. Although all participants of Tricoteuses can read and write English, most topics contain so many french words that it would require non-trivial translations. We felt it would create more confusion than clarity. And even if we manage to always get perfect translations, the data sets published by the French government are not in English and it would not make sense to translate them.
Despite this language barrier, I hope we can have interactions with the members of OSD and get advice on how to effectively leverage the UX methods within our project.

Hello everybody
I am Arivle, a freelance graphic design from Indonesia. Glad can find the community full of FLOSS designers all around the world. I knew this community from @jan , so, thank you very much.
I used to design caricature and any vector design. In Indonesia, I joined Gimpscape, a community of designers who using FLOSS (inkscape, krita, gimp, kdenlive). From the community, I started to learn to contribute to the open source event. GNOME Asia Summit 2019 in Gresik Indonesia was a great experience for me.

Hi everybody !
My name is Julien Paris, I’m french, and I’m a developper (fullstack to say it briefly). I developped [https://apiviz.io/?locale=en](https://apiviz.io/?locale=en), a sort of an open source CMS for datavizualisation.
I am a self-taught developper, I have a degree of architect, I did research abroad in social sciences, but I found coding funnier. I love data, dataviz, UX, UI, APIs, open source, and open data of course.
